Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, took control to create a decider.

He saved 4 initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
